Brembo is the world leader in the design and manufacturing of high performance braking systems and components for cars, motorbikes and commercial vehicles, as well as other components for racing. Brembo develops and manufactures brake discs, calipers and pads, master cylinders, assembled and pre-bled brake modules and wheels; in Europe Brembo is the only one producing the entire brake system.
Role in the Project
Brembo is the coordinator of the activities related to LIFE CRAL implementation. BREMBO is responsible for project management, exploitation and dissemination activities.
Within the framework of the LIFE CRAL project, BREMBO will be also involved in: (1) selection of sustainable and high-performing raw materials for automotive braking system cast components, (2) installation, activation and validation of an innovative Pilot Semi-Solid Metal (SSM) line, (3) fabrication of real industrial samples to be validated via bench-scale experiments and on-road tests and (4) evaluation of the environmental impacts of the CRAL process from cradle to grave.
Cannon Ergos is a private company part of Cannon Group. Ergos is specialized in the design and integration of complex, customized turnkey industrial solutions to clients all over the world. Its product offering includes machines for vertical aluminum die-casting, plants for carbon fiber reinforced plastics production and other lines for the production of plastic parts. The aluminum die-casting business in the past was run by TCS, now one of Cannon Ergos divisions. It has 50-year experience in the design, construction and complete installation of special vertical die casting machines for rotors (where the high quality of the production process allows maximum efficiency in the electric motors) and safety-critical automotive components. For its achievements in rotors field, it was named “Strategic supplier” by Siemens in 2008.
Role in the project
Cannon Ergos is the technical partner of the project, chosen for its expertise in light alloys vertical die-casting and its commitment to innovation and experimentation. Its role as associated beneficiary focuses on the engineering and the manufacturing part of the project. In particular, Ergos will be responsible for (1) the design of an innovative Pilot Semi-solid metal (SSM) line, (2) the installation, activation and validation of the Pilot SSM line and (3) the evaluation of replicability and transferability of the Pilot SSM line in different regions and/or sectors.Visit website
